Quickie Update Admist the Coronavirus

Wow! It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, anywhere but I’m still alive and kicking out in the far East. No one could’ve predicted how crazy this year has gotten and it’s almost unbelievable. There’s a global pandemic claiming millions of lives, Kobe Bryant died, people are rioting over haircuts, civil rights, and racism and it’s mindblowing to try and keep up with everything. Throughout all this happening I lost my job just as the worse of the pandemic was starting and I tried to hold it together but for months I couldn’t get myself out of bed to do anything but eat and take a shower. I had so many plans but the coronavirus has ruined all that and more but now that summer is here I think I’m starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

The Good:

Out and about in Akiba

As referenced before I started graduate school online and the program has been fantastic so far, and I finished my first year with a 3.6. The second semester was hard as hell since I just didn’t have the drive while suffering through all of this craziness but I’m happy with everything in the end and ready to take a break for a while.

Other good things- ahh I’ve been branching out more with writing. Contributing to other marketing campaigns and helping people out with their projects. Although the coronavirus took away my internship before I’ve still been working independently to build some sort of skills for myself.

In Japan

For a while everything just seemed to stop. All the stores were closed and it seemed like no one was working or doing anything. It was frustrating because I couldn’t go anywhere even when school was finished and I didn’t have any work for a while and Tokyo was so dead. It was strangely nice though because I could walk through Harajuku and no one would be out in the street. In the beginning I think Japan was optimistic about the Olympics and lied about the numbers trying not to scare people.

But once things were officially canceled it was sort of the beginning of the end. Suddenly everyone was getting sick and seemed like there were hundreds of new cases popping up everyday. Fortunately things never got as bad here as they did in America though.

With the virus dying down we’re now at the forefront of the black lives matter movement. And while racism might not be as noticeable here I’m still excited and proud of all people here standing together with black community.

More updates to come soon I’ll keep you guys posted.
